Cristoforo Comi - Top Italian Scientist in Neurosciences & Psychology
Cristoforo Comi received his M.D. degree from the University of Milan, Italy, board certification in neurology, and Ph.D. degree in molecular medicine from the University of Piemonte Orientale and a Neurology Fellowship from Mount Sinai Hospital, NYC, USA. He is Associate Professor of neurology and head of the neuroimmunology lab at the University of Piemonte Orientale, Novara, Italy. Since 2019, he is also head of the Neurology division at S. Andrea Hospital in Vercelli. His area of expertise includes the molecular bases of neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases. His main research achievements are regarding T-cell apoptosis in neuroinflammatory diseases and the study of proinflammatory genes and cytokines in neurodegenerative diseases. Current studies are concerned with the role of immunity in neurodegeneration, with a special focus on identifying biomarkers of disease progression. Prof. Comi serves as editor and reviewer for several international indexed scientific journals, as well as for national and international public and private funding agencies.
