Massimo Lazzeri - Top Italian Scientist in Clinical Sciences
Dr. Massimo Lazzeri developed a long-lasting personal experience in the field of clinical-translational research in urology and oncology. At the beginning of his career his research was focused on pathophysiology of lower-urinary tract. He tried to investigated the role of non adrenergic-non cholinergic innervation of lower urinary tract and correlated its dysfunction with main functional disorders. During his PhD course he investigated the urogynecological disorders with a specific focus on conservative surgical approach to pelvic organ prolapse. Since 2010 his research was focused on urology oncology in which field he matured the capacity of addressing the main “unmet clinical needs” in the early diagnosis of prostate cancer, bladder cancer and innovative therapies. Currently he is PI of a screening study funded by AIRC for early diagnosis of prostate cancer in men with germline mutations of DNA repair genes.
