Alberto Cuocolo - Top Italian Scientist in Clinical Sciences
Alberto Cuocolo is a full professor of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy, researcher and doctor board certified in nuclear medicine and cardiology. He is expert in the research and clinical application of diagnostic imaging techniques and metabolic therapy. He is the author of over 450 scientific publications. After some years of experiences in the United States, in 1990 he began his professional and scientific activity at the University of Naples Federico II in Italy, where he traveled all the steps of his career up to taking on the role of director of the Department of Advanced Biomedical Sciences from 2019. He is also the director of the Nuclear Medicine Unit of the Federico II University Hospital in Naples. With a view to strengthening interdisciplinary molecular medicine and molecular imaging activities, he promoted the establishment of the PhD program in Biomorphological and Surgical Sciences at the University of Naples Federico II. He served as president of the Section of Nuclear Medicine of the UEMS from the 2005 to 2007 and as president of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine from the 2007 to 2008. He is associate editor of the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, Current Cardiovascular Imaging Reports, Molecular Imaging and Radionuclide Therapy, and Frontiers in Nuclear Medicine, and member of the editorial board of several international journals. Among his international honors there are the Jean Debiesse Award, the Marie Curie Award, the Marie Curie Lecture, Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine Award, and Croatian Society of Nuclear Medicine Award. From 2019 he is National Delegate in the Board of Euro-Bioimaging ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium) established by the European Commission.
